ABERRATION Defined
Imperfections in the focusing characteristics of a lens or lens system. Spherical aberration -- Light rays from the center of the lens would come to a focus at a different distance compared with light rays from the periphery of the lens, making the overall focus less precise. Chromatic aberration -- Light rays of different colors would come to a focus at different distances from a lens (red is "bent" or refracted least), giving a rainbow fringe around objects and also making the overall focus less precise.
